Members

Here is a current list of our membership. There are two types of membership available, Group and Affiliate. Please read the following descriptions and then fill in the appropriate form.

Group Membership	Affiliate Membership
Open to non-profit distributing community organisations, charities or social enterprises whose projects and activities include waste reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, reprocessing or refurbishment in Essex.	Open to representatives of local authorities in Essex, statutory agencies that support the aims of the Network, private sector organisations, educational and other non-community organisations, other community waste networks and organisations outside of Essex.

GROUP MEMBERS

Age Concern England

Age Concern run numerous charity shops around Essex to raise funds to promote the well-being of all older people and to help make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. The shops reuse clothes, books, tapes, CD's, toys etc.

Barnardo's Charity Shop

Barnardo's is a Children's Charity that raises funds through a number of charity shops around the country.

BB Recycling Ltd

BB Recycling Ltd reuse and recycle toner and inkjet cartridges along with recycling paper, cardboard cups and cans. Money made from the resale of the cartridges is donated to local charities.

Maldon (Essex) Mind

Supporting people in preparing for work through accredited courses in gardening, computers, carpentry, cookery and admin.

Bright Ideas Scrap Scheme

Bright Ideas reuses art and craft materials. Participating members pay an annual fee and get the materials for free.

Colchester Development Partnership (CCDP)

CCDP is commited to social amd economic integration of disadvantaged and disabled people. Training and employment is provided by a reuse project (furniture and other household items).

Colchester Shake Trust

Colchester Shake Trust is a registered charity. Their work consists of the provision of furniture and other household effects, free of charge, to disadvantaged families and individuals who would not otherwise be able to afford these items.

ECCO Ltd

ECCO Ltd provides a high quality kerbside collection of textiles and bric-a-brac from 80,000 households in Harlow and Epping Forest. The project works with partners to offer therapeutic work to people experiencing social disadvantage.

Emmaus Colchester

Emmaus is an organisation that reuses unwanted furniture, clothes, books, tapes, CDs and bric-a-brac by accepting it from people who no longer want it. Emmaus sell these goods at a cheap price for the benefit of others in the community.

Employ-Ability

Employ-Ability is an organisation that provides supported employment programmes giving those with mental or physical illness the opportunity for employment in viable and valid work scenarios. They also collect toner cartridges as a re-use and recycling service.

En-form

En-form is an environment centre providing information and advise to the general public, businesses, community groups and schools. The organisation also collects toner cartridges as a re-use and recycling service.

Essex Tools With A Mission

Essex Tools With A Mission collects tools and items such as sewing machines, typewriters, and duplicators and sends them to selected development projects, training centres and schools in Developing countries.

Farleigh Hospice Charity Shop

Farleigh Hospice Charity Shop collects and sells clothing, bric-a-brac, records, small electrical items and furniture to raise funds for Farleigh who provide care for people with cancer, and other life threatening illnesses.

Hamelin Trust

Hamelin Trust collects furniture, clothing, IT equipment and provides the items at a cheaper price back into the community.

Hand In Hand

Hand in Hand provides overseas aid to poor children + families in East Africa and South America. They collect mobile phones

Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity

The Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity operates two cancer care centres, a research laboratory, funds research nurses and holds educational courses and lectures. The charity does not receive any Government funding, relying solely on the public.

We accept mobile phones at three BBC ESSEX locations:
- 198 London Road, Chelmsford
- Mercantile House, 1-5 Sir Isaacs Walk, Colchester
- 444 London Road, Westcliff-on-Sea.

We also accept second-hand clothes, furniture and phones at our shops. Please contact the office for shop locations and further information.

Lighthouse Furniture Project Limited

Lighthouse Furniture Project Limited is a is a not-for-profit voluntary group that passes on unwanted furniture, household and electrical goods to local people in need.

MillRace IT

MillRace IT is a Social Firm, in which former clients of Bridges to Work are employed alongside those who have been disadvantaged through mental ill health in a project of recycling and re-using computers. It also sends refurbished computer equipment, through InterAct, to developing countries.

Rainbow Services

Rainbow Services re-use donated items of furniture, clothing, household linens and bric a brac to families and individuals living on a low income.

Re-Cycle East

Re-Cycle's mission is to collect and ship second hand bicycles and parts from Essex, to Africa. Local partners teach local people the skills of how to repair and maintain them, to improve their lives in a sustainable manner.

Re>Paint Colchester

Re>Paint Tendring collects and distributes paint free of charge from households and companies to charities, community groups, schools and individuals in genuine need.

The Salvation Army Hadleigh Training Centre

A training and social enterprise that works with food waste and compost. They also maintain a Charity Shop.

Southend Association for Voluntary Services (SAVS) Furniture Recycling

SAVS Furniture Recycling is an organisation that reuses furniture and electrical goods and bric-a-brac to help those who cannot afford to furnish their homes at normal prices.

SE Essex Organic Gardeners

SE Essex Organic Gardeners composts organic waste while protecting wildlife, reducing pollution and encouraging species diversity.

Second Generation, Thurrocks Re-Use Project

Second Generation is Thurrock's Re-Use Project. Second Generation is a Thurrock CVS and Thurrock Play Network Partnership Project. Bringing furniture, toys, bikes, appliances and household goods back into the community.

SEETEC

We recycle old PC's by repairing them, where possible, and updating their programs and then giving them back to people in the community who require a PC.

St Clare Hospice Trading Co

St Clare Hospice charity shops raise money for St Clare Hospice by reusing saleable furniture, clothes, bric-a-brac and books.

Tendring Furniture Scheme

Tendring furniture scheme provides good quality furniture at nominal cost to individuals and families on low income.

Tendring Reuse Employment Enterprise (TREE)

TREE (Tendring Reuse Employment Enterprise) has a white goods collection project where recycling (including collection and refurbishment etc. provides employment and training for people who are disadvantaged in the labour market. TREE also has a scrap store called Bits and Bobs where arts and craft materials are collected mainly in bulk and sold to youth groups, schools etc for minimal prices.

Tools with a Mission (Halstead)

Sorting, renovating, exporting and packing tools and sewing machines for use in developing countries. We do not accept garden tools.

Victoria ReCycled (Victoria In Partnership)

We are a furniture reuse and recycling project caring for all. We operate in Southend and neighbouring towns.

Anglia Ruskin is an Essex based university with a strong interest in social enterprise, and in community recycling

Anglian Ruskin University Estate Development Department

Anglian Ruskin University is a provider of higher education and research. The Estates Department manages the property portfolio on behalf of the University at its Cambridge and Essex campuses.

Association of Charity Shops

The Association of Charity Shops is an umbrella body representing the charity retail sector. It has around 225 member charities, running 6000 shops.

Basildon District Council

Business Link For Essex

Business Link for Essex is a business support provider for traditional business and social enterprise.

Braintree District Council

British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV)

British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) is an environmental/ conservation charity working with volunteers for local environmental improvements. They provide training, guidance and support to the volunteers.

Castle Point Borough Council

Minimises waste arising, maximises recycling and promotes best practice in waste management in the District.

Cambridgeshire Community Reuse and Recycling Network Ltd

CCORRN is a support organisation that represents and promotes all community groups, charities and social enterprises involved in reuse and recycling activity; covering Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.

Chelmsford Borough Council

The Community Composting Network (CCN)

The CCN is a national network providing help, support and representation to local communities who are in some way involved in the sustainable management of organic waste resources.

The Community Recycling Network - Eastern Region (CRN)

The CRN is a national network providing help and support to East of England Community groups through training, business support, help finding funding etc.

Colchester Borough Council

Devon Community Recycling Network

DCRN provides networking, information, support and stratergy to organisations in Devon.

Epping Forest District Council

Minimises waste arising, maximises recycling and promotes best practice in waste management in the District.

Minimises waste arising, maximises recycling and promotes best practice in waste management throughout Essex.

Essex Friends of the Earth

Essex Friends of the Earth are a campaign group that work accross Essex for achieving Zero Waste, promoting reuse, recycling and composting.

Harlow District Council

InterAct

Social Inclusion and development of subsidiary MillRaceIT. Training accross Essex.

Ipswich Furniture Project

Ipswich Furniture Project reuse and recycle furniture and appliences donated by the community, and pass it on at low cost to those on low income.

Oakwood Enterprises Plough Corner

Oakwood Enterprises Plough Corner provides employment, training and opportunities to provide work for people with learning difficulties.

RDC

ReMaDe Essex

ReMaDe Essex is a not for profit company set up to develop markets for recycled materials. ReMaDe Essex works with Businesses, local authorities and community groups.

Rochford District Council

Minimises waste arising, maximises recycling and promotes best practice in waste management in the District.

Roundwood Garden + Visitors Centre

Roundwood Garden + Visitors Centre provides employment and training for people who are disadvantaged in the labour market. Recycling is a part of a programme within the training.

Saffron Walden & District Friends of the Earth

Friends of the Earth are an environmental campaigning organisation. They are involved and participate with various local community activities e.g. Local Agenda 21.

Small Business Services

Sarah Garner is a business advisor for social enterprises.

Splinters (St Elizabeths)

Splinters reuse and recycle wooden furniture and pass it on at low cost to those on low income.

Suffolk County Council

Minimises waste arising, maximises recycling and promotes best practice in waste management in the District.

Suffolk Social Care

Suffolk Social Care provides a day service for adultys with learning disability. They also run a recycling project.

Uttlesford District Council

Minimises waste arising, maximises recycling and promotes best practice in waste management in the District.

Waste4Recycling

Waste4Recycling, the recycling logistics organisation founded by Essex Eco-Entrepreneur Chris Moon, has supplied eco-bin. Chris designed the Eco-bin as a result of his own experience at home in wanting to facilitate kerbside collection. The result was 3 years of product design and prototyping, focus groups of householders, consultations with recycling officers and waste managers, culminating in the Defra funded field trials taking place across Essex.
